Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli started her career as a soprano very young. She earned her voice degree at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milano and the Master’s degree at the Conservatory G. Frescobaldi in Ferrara, where she studied with Mirella Freni. From 2006 to 2007 Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli also attented master-classes with Luciano Pavarotti and studied with Alessandra Molinari and Sonia Prina. She is currently perfecting her technique with Manuela Custer.
Among the awards she received have been the second prize at the F. Provenzale competition in Naples and a finalist prize at the Haendel Singing competition in London. She participated at the Innsbruck Early Music Festival Contest and has been selected to participate at the Rossini Academy directed by Alberto Zedda in 2012.
Francesca has sung the title roles of Haendels »Acis and Galatea« and »Semele«, in the Cavalli operas »Rosinda« and »Artemisia«, the Susanna in »Le Nozze Di Figaro« and Sandrina in »La Finta Giardiniera« by Mozart; Amore, Pallade, Venere und Valletto in »L’incoronazione di Poppea« by Monteverdi, Aquilio in »Adriano in Siria« by Pergolesio, the title role of Purcell’s »Dido und Aeneas«, Melanto in »Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria« by Monteverdi and Giunone in Cavallu’s »La Calisto«. She also has been Leonora in Verdi’s »Oberto« and the title roles of the opera »Agrippina« by Haendel and der opera »Mirandolina« by Bohuslav Martinu.
The many conductors Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli has worked with include Ottavio Dantone, Alan Curtis, Aaron Carpene, Mehmet C. Yesilcay, Christophe Coin, Claudio Osele, Claudio Cavina, Mike Fentross, Andrea Marchiol, Marco Mencoboni and Michael Hofstetter.
Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli has already performed at Bayreuth, Giessen and Potsdam, the Musikverein Vienna, the Teatro della Pergola Florenz, the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, the Teatro Communale in Ferrara and also the Teatro Dal Verme in Mailand, the Concertgebouws Brügge and the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam. In 2012, she performed in Buthan and sang in the most important concert halls of New Zealand in 2013. In 2015 she gave her U.S. debut at Spoleto Festival USA.
Also Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli is a regularly guest at many music festivals all over Europe, amongst others the Festival Pergolesi Spontini in Jesi, the Maggio Musicale in Florence, the Amuz Antwerp, and also at festivals in Ravenna, Montpellier, Krakow, Hanover, Freiburg and Danzig, at the Sferisterio Opera Festival in Macerata, the Haydn Music Festival of Eisenstadt, in Innsbruck, the Schleswig-Holstein-Music Festival, the Feste di Apollo of Parma, the Styriarte Festival Graz, in Ambronay, Beaune, Roma, Faenza, Bologna, Bruges and Halle.
Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli has performed with singers such as Vivica Genoux, Samir Pirgu, Anna Caterina Antonacci, Sonia Prina, Antonio Abete, Susan Graham, Valer Barna-Sabadus and Jeremy Ovenden, and often performes with well-known ensembles such as Accademia Bizantina, Il Complesso Barocco, La Venexiana, I Virtuosi delle Muse, Cantar Lontano, Limoges Baroque Ensemble, B’Rock, La Sfera Armoniosa, Le Musiche Nove and Piano e Forte. She also sings in the project »Baroque Oriental« by Pera Ensemble, which as been awarded with the Echo Classic prize in 2012.
Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli also worked with well-known stage directors such as Pier Luigi Pizzi, Balazs Kovalik and Stefano Vizioli.
Her CDs were released by Sony International, Berlin Classics, Glossa, Ludi Musici and Amadeus. In 2014 the CD »Marc’ Antonio e Cleopatra» by Johann Adolph Hasse has been awarded with the »Diamante d’Opéra« of French »Opéra Magazine«.
